If you would like to bring your cat or dog to the shelter to be rehomed, you will need to make an intake appointment with us. Please first call us at 607-746-3080 so that we can discuss your pet's situation and properly assess what the best options are for you.

If you are having training or behavior issues with your pet, we have staff who can help by suggesting training tips and solutions with you to help keep your pet in your home. Please call us at 607-746-3080. You are also welcome to visit us during our business hours to discuss training tips and behavior solutions.

Each town has a Dog Control Officer who assists in bringing stray dogs to the shelter. The name and phone number of your local town Dog Control Officer can be found online or you can call the shelter, or your Town Clerk or Town Supervisor. If you have found a stray cat, please call the shelter and we will make arrangements for you to bring it in.

Delaware County does not currently have an animal cruelty investigator. All calls concerning possible neglect or cruelty should be directed and reported to the Delaware County Sheriff's Department or the New York State Police.

PLEASE CALL YOUR VETERINARIAN. We do not have a veterinarian on staff at the shelter. Your pet should be seen at least once a year even when healthy. Ask your veterinarian to help you set up a schedule for checkups, vaccinations and checkups for external and internal parasites. Your veterinarian will also help you with the proper nutrition for your pet according to the age, sex, spay/neuter status, and activity levels.
